The Languages@Large Day brought over 200 Year 10 students from 19 Education Queensland state high schools to the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies at the St Lucia campus for a day of language activities. Students participated in language learning activities and games, toured the campus and learnt something about tertiary study options for language learning. The day aimed to encourage students to continue their language study into Years 11 and 12 and to give them first-hand experience of learning a foreign language at university.

The Languages@Large project is a tertiary familiarisation and experience day for
Year 10 students of foreign languages and intercultural studies from Education
Queensland state high schools located in low socio-economic and regional areas.
The project was supported by The University of Queensland’s Higher Education
Equity Support Program with funding from the Department of Education,
Employment and Workplace relations.
