Why Study German?
There are many reasons.
German is one of the ten most widely spoken languages on earth. There are approximately a hundred million native speakers of German in Europe, and another hundred million second-language speakers of German throughout the world.
German is a major language of the European Union. The German-speaking countries are the world leaders in many areas of technology. The Federal Republic of Germany is one of Australia's most important trading partners, and the German-speaking countries constitute a substantial percentage of Australia's inbound tourist market. Many Australians have German-speaking ancestry, and German is a significant community language within Australia. German culture has influenced the English-speaking world for centuries, and continues to do so today.
