Postgraduate Research Programs
Doctor of Philosophy
Candidates undertake an original and significant research project valuable to their discipline. Admission is normally granted on the basis of a Bachelor's degree with Honours or a Master's degree. Other qualifications for entry may be considered. A full-time candidate should submit a thesis for examination within 3-4 years: part-time candidates in 5-8 years. With special approval, a PhD candidature may be taken off-shore.
Master of Philosophy
Candidates are required to undertake an original research project over 1-2 years full-time or 2-4 years part-time. Admission requires a Bachelor's degree with Honours, although students may be admitted after completing a postgraduate diploma or Master's qualifying course.

Enquiries regarding PhD or MPhil study with the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies should be directed to the School’s Postgraduate Coordinator or the Postgraduate Administrative Officer by emailing postgrad.slccs@uq.edu.au.
If you are interested in undertaking a PhD or MPhil degree with the School, you should forward an Expression of Interest in Research Higher Degree Candidature form to the School’s postgraduate mailbox at postgrad.slccs@uq.edu.au. The form is available from the Graduate School website.
