There are over 50 PhD and MPhil candidates currently engaged in higher degree research projects in the School of Languages and Comparative Cultural Studies. Thesis projects conducted within the School focus on international languages and cultures, and in particular literary studies, applied linguistics and language studies, and cultural studies in addition to a broad range of disciplines including culture gender and society, screen and media culture, and translation and interpreting studies.

Rhizomes
Rhizomes is an annual conference organised by the School’s postgraduate students. Since 2005, it has provided opportunities for local, interstate and international research and higher degree students, as well as early career researchers, to present their work and engage with peers in a friendly, interdisciplinary environment.
